NYC GRACIE MANSION CELEBRATES PREGONES THEATER!

A celebrated summer tradition, The New York City Neighborhood Achievement Awards are presented annually by the New York City Mayor and the City's Department of Small Business Services.

The 2011 Cultural Award belongs to Pregones Theater!

When describing our company to the capacity crowd that gathered on the grounds of Gracie Mansion on the night of July 12, 2011, Commissioner Robert W. Walsh said, "this award recognizes a cultural institution that has made a major contribution to its neighborhood, generating economic activity and the growth of small business while employing local workers and adding to the artistic and educational fabric of New York City."

The audience roared as Alvan Colón Lespier accepted the award onstage. Fellow Associate Artistic Director Jorge Merced, Development Officer Arnaldo J. López, Ph.D., board members Joan Marrero and Elmer Sánchez, and longtime friends Miriam Colón, Soldanela Rivera and Marcos Marrero rounded up the Pregones Theater delegation.
